Liminal Space
Liminal Space is a body of work that begins with contour-line figure drawings made from life and remains intentionally unresolved. Using layered mixed media—torn paper, graphite, ink, gouache, and water-soluble colored pencil—I work into and against the drawings, placing the figures in a suspended state that appears grounded within a liminal space. My intuitive process focuses on relationships between line and shape, partially flattening space while suggesting form. Line is central to this exploration: broken, erased, buried, and reemerging through layers, it allows the figures to hover between emergence and dissolution, existing in fluctuating states of visibility that reflect the transitional nature of liminality.
